July 2026: Marketing calendar and content ideas

By Kirsty Bassett

July is full of opportunities and we’re here for it. Every month we dig into the marketing calendar, so you don’t have to, pulling out the dates worth knowing and giving you one actionable idea per date that you can actually use.

Small budget, small team, big ideas. That’s what we’re about.

New here? Welcome. We’re CoLab Marketers. Stick around.

Monthly theme: Plastic free month

Who’s this for? Eco, sustainable, food, beauty, fashion, lifestyle, gifting brands

Your idea: You don’t have to be a fully sustainable brand to get involved with this one and that’s the point. Pick one plastic swap your business is making this month and talk about it openly. New packaging, ditching plastic bags, switching to glass. Share it on your socials, be honest about where you are on the journey, and invite your audience to make a swap too. People buy from brands they believe in. This is your chance to show them who you are.

Key awareness weeks

2–5 July: British Grand Prix, Silverstone

Who’s this for? Fashion, food, drink, lifestyle, gifting, automotive and travel brands

Your idea: The British Grand Prix is one of the most glamorous events in the UK sporting calendar and the aesthetic around it is incredible – think high octane, high fashion, high summer. Create a “Grand Prix weekend” edit of your products or run a “race day ready” content series in the days leading up to it. You don’t need to be a motorsport brand — you just need to tap into the energy of the moment.

Until 12: July Wimbledon continues

Who’s this for? Food, drink, fashion, lifestyle, home, gifting brands

Your idea: Wimbledon rolls into July and the nation is still watching. If you haven’t launched your “Wimbledon at Home” content yet, it’s not too late. Push your summer bundles, your garden party products, your best strawberries and cream adjacent content. The tournament final weekend is 11–12 July – that’s your last big window to ride the wave.

Until 19 July: FIFA World Cup 2026

Who’s this for? Food, drink, hospitality, fashion, lifestyle brands

Your idea: July is where the World Cup gets serious – quarter finals, semi finals and the final on 19 July. If England are still in it (fingers crossed!) the whole country will be gripped. Keep your match day content going, keep your bundles live and be ready to react quickly if England make a deep run. The brands that stay consistent throughout the tournament, not just at the start, are the ones that benefit most.

23 July–2 August: Commonwealth Games, Glasgow

Who’s this for? Sport, fitness, food, drink, lifestyle, Scottish and UK regional brands

Your idea: The Commonwealth Games coming to Glasgow is a huge deal. Not just for Scotland but for the whole of the UK. This is a brilliant opportunity for brands to celebrate home nation pride. Create content that champions your local roots, shout out athletes from your region, or partner with a local business in Glasgow for a collaborative offer. Community and pride content performs brilliantly around events like this.

Key dates

5 July: ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Final at Lord’s

Who’s this for? Food, drink, lifestyle, fashion, local London brands

Your idea: The final of the biggest women’s cricket tournament ever held in England takes place at Lord’s. One of the most iconic sporting venues in the world. Whether England are in the final or not, this is a landmark moment for women’s sport. Show up for it. Share a post celebrating the players, the tournament, the occasion. Brands that champion women’s sport earn enormous goodwill and loyalty from their audience. It costs nothing and says everything.

7 July: World Chocolate Day

Who’s this for? Food, gifting, subscription boxes, beauty, lifestyle brands

Your idea: Run a “chocolate pairing” Reel – pair your product with a specific type of chocolate and make it feel indulgent and fun. A candle that pairs with dark chocolate. A wine that goes with milk chocolate. A skincare product for your evening chocolate ritual. It sounds simple but this kind of creative, playful content is exactly what stops the scroll. Everyone loves chocolate, this one will be hard to get wrong.

19 July: FIFA World Cup Final

Who’s this for? Food, drink, hospitality, lifestyle brands and especially any brand whose audience loves football

Your idea: Whether England are in the final or not, 19 July is the biggest single sporting moment of the year. Plan for it now! A match day email, a final weekend bundle, a “watching the final” content series – whatever fits your brand. If England do make it, be ready to move fast because the energy in the UK will be unlike anything we’ve seen in years. Have your content drafted, your offers ready, and your finger on the post button.
